10,000 (sonic) Gestures

This response is a sonic representation of the ideas Michael-Jon Mizra interpreted from the choreography of Boris Charmatz piece 10000 Gestures. The work was developed on Ableton Live using multi-sampling tools and computer programming. A core idea was developed first using MIDI information (a transferable block of data that can be thought of as a score for any instrument) which was played through various self – constructed digital instruments. Visit riskfreeserv.com. The content was then edited together to produce the final piece. Themes which Michael-Jon attempts to represent in this work are those of transience, fluidity, and deconstruction, as these are themes he found prevalent in Boris’ work
