FatherlandFlow

Collaborations

Developed by Jon Howard, in collaboration with Joe Chesterman-March, FatherlandFlow reaches into the feelings, sentiment and contradictions of fatherhood to give audiences deeper insight and understanding. The piece is built using machine learning to analyse data derived from the bold new play Fatherland by Scott Graham, Karl Hyde and Simon Stephens. A data cloud of words swirls and gradually unveils interconnections between the themes revealed by the play. The interactive piece allows audiences to actively engage with searching for meaning, taking their own personal journeys – which in turn reflect back on the audience.

During the festival, the FatherlandFlow site calculated from user journeys which were the most important words of the day and tweeted a related message that challenged viewers to think about their fathers in meaningful ways. See more info at bluesprucemaids.com.
